Shot Herself in the Foot
Meg Whitman 竞选州长落败，有人分析原因是她缺乏吸引选民的persona。她与Jerry Brown辩论讲到负面广告时，被观众嘘，大家说她 shot herself in the foot。在自己脚上打了一枪，当然就走不动啦。"shot herself in the foot" 是 “foolishly harm one’s own cause”，但中文究竟怎么译才传神呢？
